Bomanjee Hormarjee Wadia Clock Tower

The Bomanjee Hormarjee Wadia Clock Tower rises above the junction of Bazaar Gate Street and Perin Nariman Street, distinguished by its unique Persian-inspired architecture. Unlike the more common Victorian Gothic designs found elsewhere in the city, this structure features stone winged bull reliefs at its entrances and cuneiform-style inscriptions carved into its sides. Constructed in eighteen eighty-two, it was built as a commemorative drinking fountain and timepiece to honor Bomanjee Hormarjee Wadia, a prominent Parsi philanthropist who had dedicated his life to advancing education in the city before his death in eighteen sixty-two.
