David Sassoon Library and Reading Room

The David Sassoon Library and Reading Room is a yellow Malad stone building, identifiable by the white stone bust of David Sassoon set above its entrance portico. Completed in eighteen seventy, the structure features pointed arches and columns adorned with animal motifs, built in the Victorian Gothic style. It was among the first major projects constructed in the area following the demolition of the old Bombay fort walls in the eighteen sixties.
