Grand Hotel, Mumbai - Ballard Estate, Fort

The Grand Hotel features a distinctive stone facade that rises above the streets of the Ballard Estate. Designed by the Scottish architect George Wittet, the building was constructed between nineteen fourteen and nineteen eighteen during a period of massive land reclamation by the Bombay Port Trust. This area was developed as a planned commercial district to serve the expanding maritime trade of the city, and the hotel was situated to accommodate the influx of merchants and travelers arriving at the nearby docks.
