The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is defined by a large, weathered stone facade featuring two arched doorways and a wooden ladder resting against a window ledge, a fixture that has remained in its place since the eighteenth century. Inside, the massive complex encompasses both the rock of Golgotha, where tradition holds Jesus was crucified, and the Aedicule, a small structure that encloses the tomb where he was buried and rose again.
