Zedekiah’s Cave is a vast, five-acre limestone quarry extending beneath the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City. Its entrance sits directly beneath the Old City wall, positioned between the Damascus and Herod Gates. While its mouth is a natural formation, the sprawling network of galleries inside was carved by hand over several thousand years to provide building stone for the city's grandest structures, including those associated with the First and Second Temples.
