Beit Aghion, a striking International Style villa, stands at the corner of Balfour and Smolenskin Streets in the Rehavia neighborhood. Designed by architect Richard Kauffmann and completed in nineteen thirty-eight, the building is defined by its interconnected square blocks, Jerusalem stone facade, and a distinctively circular front section that contrasts with an interior courtyard. Built for Edward Aghion, a prominent Greek-Jewish merchant from Alexandria, the house reflects the architectural trends of its time while incorporating features of Islamic design.
