The Church of Our Lady of Sorrows stands along the Via Dolorosa in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City. Erected in eighteen eighty-one, this Armenian Catholic cathedral marks the traditional fourth station of the cross. It commemorates the moment when Jesus encountered his mother while carrying the cross toward his crucifixion.
