Piazza Municipio is defined by its paving of historic Vesuvian lava stone blocks, which radiate from a central point toward the surrounding edges of the square. It sits directly in front of Palazzo San Benedetto, the town hall of Amalfi, a building that began as a Benedictine monastery in the late fifteen hundreds.
