The Torre dello Ziro is a cylindrical stone watchtower that sits on the rugged spur of Mount Aureo, overlooking the sea between Amalfi and Atrani. Its masonry rests on a widened base, and the structure connects to a narrow, crenellated walkway that juts toward the gulf. First recorded as the Rocca San Felice in eleven fifty-one, the tower earned the name Turris Cziri by twelve ninety-two, likely referring to the large jars once used for grain or oil storage.
