The Bank of Fukuoka Head Office is recognized by its massive granite exterior and a distinctively large, open cavity at its center. Completed in nineteen seventy-five, the building was designed by the architect Kisho Kurokawa. Its most striking feature is an elevated, semi-outdoor plaza created by a deep overhang on the ninth floor, which serves as a public space integrated into the heart of the Tenjin district.
