Hondori Shopping Street is a covered pedestrian arcade extending five hundred seventy-seven meters through the center of Hiroshima. A glass roof shelters more than two hundred retail shops, cafes, and restaurants from the weather. The name Hondori translates to Main Street, a designation reflecting its history as part of the Sanyo Road, which served as a primary highway during the Edo period.
