The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park Rest House is a light-gray, three-story building constructed of reinforced concrete that stands out for its resilience. Built in March nineteen twenty-nine as the Taishoya Kimono Shop, it was a modern, prominent structure in a neighborhood of wooden houses. During the Second World War, the building was repurposed as a fuel distribution hall. It is located only one hundred and seventy meters from the atomic bomb's hypocenter.
