Alice Garden sits in the center of Hiroshima’s downtown as a tiled, concrete plaza. Officially named the Hiroshima City Nishi-Shintenchi Public Plaza, the space is set apart by its whimsical, post-modern design, including an elliptical plinth and stage area that often hosts weekend events and pop-up beer gardens. Below the surface of this gathering spot lies a two-hundred-car parking facility, marking the square as a hidden layer of the city's commercial district.
