Hiroshima Castle

Hiroshima Castle, often called Carp Castle, is a five-story tower defined by its black and white exterior that rises twenty-six meters above a stone foundation. The original wooden structure was commissioned in fifteen eighty-nine by the feudal lord Mori Terumoto, who selected the river delta for its strategic command over land and sea trade routes. Before the city even bore the name Hiroshima, this site served as the political and economic headquarters for a domain that spanned nine provinces.
