Boulevard Mohammed V is distinguished by its collection of century-old buildings, which display a deliberate mixture of Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and Neo-Moorish styles. First included in the nineteen fourteen urban plan by architect Henri Prost, the street was originally known as Boulevard de la Gare when it opened in nineteen eighteen. It was designed to connect the city's train station to the old medina and the square now called United Nations Square.
