Muhammad V Square

landmark

Mohammed V Square is defined by its expansive open space and a constant, heavy presence of pigeons, which has earned it the nickname Pigeons' Square. Established in nineteen sixteen during the French protectorate, this site was envisioned by Resident-General Hubert Lyautey as the administrative core of a modern European city. Its layout drew direct inspiration from the Place Stanislas in Nancy, France, the hometown of Lyautey himself.
