The Clock Tower in Casablanca is easily identified by its square, minaret-like silhouette and the four mechanical clock faces featuring Roman numerals. It stands today as a reproduction of the original structure commissioned by the French commander Charles Martial Joseph Dessigny and designed by the engineer Bouillot. Completed in nineteen oh nine, the first tower was intended to mark the edge of the old medina and signal the reach of the French administration.
