Mosquée Ould el-Hamra

The Ould el-Hamra Mosque is recognizable by its square minaret, which rises in a series of sections decorated with green zellige tilework. Situated along the Boulevard des Almohades at the edge of the old medina, this building dates back to seventeen eighty-nine. It was commissioned during the reign of Sultan Muhammad bin Abdallah, a ruler who sought to revitalize several Moroccan cities following the earthquake of seventeen fifty-five.
