La Sqala is defined by its massive, high stone walls that overlook the Atlantic port of Casablanca. This fortress was restored in seventeen sixty-nine by Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah to serve as a defensive bulwark against potential Portuguese incursions. Today, the site features a blend of Andalusian and Portuguese architectural elements, anchored by the rows of historical cannons that line its ramparts.
