Bab Mehrouk stands as a historic western gate of Fes el Bali, the ancient walled city of Fez. Completed in twelve oh four by the Almohad ruler Muhammad al-Nasir, the structure is identified by its large, traditional horseshoe arch framed in a shallow rectangular form. It once served as the primary western entrance to the medina, marking the starting point of the city's central street, Tala'a Kebira.
