Aben Danan Synagogue

The Aben Danan Synagogue sits behind a plain, unassuming door in the heart of the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter of Fez. While the entrance blends into the surrounding houses, the interior opens into a high, rectangular hall defined by a series of three octagonal pillars. This building is one of the few surviving synagogues in Morocco that preserves its original structure, built in the seventeenth century by a merchant named Mimoun Ben Sidan.
