Bab Boujloud

Bab Boujloud, often called the Blue Gate, is defined by its triple-arched entrance covered in vibrant, polychrome tilework. While the structure is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Fes, its striking facade is a product of the early twentieth century. Built in nineteen thirteen during the French Protectorate, the gate features geometric mosaics that appear deep blue on the exterior side facing away from the medina, and turn to a lush green on the side facing inward toward the ancient city streets.
