The Marinid Tombs are a collection of skeletal, weathered stone structures perched on a hill overlooking the old city of Fez. These ruined mausoleums date to the fourteenth century and were commissioned by the Marinid dynasty to serve as a royal necropolis for their sultans and noble families. While they were once symbols of architectural and political power, today they appear as crumbling, open-air arches and walls stripped of their original decorative detail.
