Binnenhof

The Binnenhof is easily recognized by the Ridderzaal, or Hall of Knights, which features two tall towers flanking a pointed roof at the center of the complex. This cluster of buildings, bordering the Hofvijver pond, has functioned as the political center of the Netherlands since the late sixteenth century. Founded in the thirteenth century as a residence for the counts of Holland, it remains one of the oldest parliamentary sites still in use today.
