Joods Monument Den Haag

The Jewish Monument on Rabbijn Maarsenplein is marked by a bronze door left slightly ajar, with two suitcases resting on the ground beside it. This site was once the heart of the city’s Jewish quarter, home to a community of seventeen thousand people before the Second World War. More than twelve thousand of these residents were deported and murdered between nineteen forty and nineteen forty-five.
