The Passage in The Hague is defined by a vaulted glass roof that stretches over a walkway lined with ornate Neo-Renaissance facades. Built between eighteen eighty-two and eighteen eighty-five, it is the oldest functioning shopping arcade in the Netherlands. Local dignitaries commissioned the project to bring the metropolitan elegance of Parisian shopping galleries to the city.
