Kneuterdijk Palace is a bright, white-painted residence located between the Court Pond and the Lange Voorhout. Originally commissioned in seventeen sixteen by Count Johan Hendrik van Wassenaer-Obdam, the building was designed by architect Daniel Marot in the Louis XIV style. In eighteen sixteen, King William I purchased the property for his son, the future King William II, and his wife, Anna Paulowna. The couple transformed the residence, adding a distinct Gothic Hall modeled after the dining hall at Christ Church, Oxford, where the prince had once studied.
