Burgerhuis Museum

The Burgerhuis, or Burgher House, stands out as an H-shaped, whitewashed home topped with a thatched roof and a distinctive Neo-Classical pediment gable. Built in seventeen ninety-seven by Anthonie Fick, the house represents the Cape Dutch architectural style once common among the wealthier citizens of the old Cape. It is situated in Stellenbosch, a town with a history reaching back to the early eighteenth century, and is recognized for its characteristic symmetry and traditional casement windows shielded by solid shutters.
