Herte Street

Herte Street is defined by a row of historic double-storeyed houses that date back to eighteen forty-one. These structures were originally built as residences for freed slaves, Coloured people, and their descendants, marking a specific chapter in the residential development of Stellenbosch. Today, the street retains this character through its collection of nineteenth-century dwellings, which contribute to the historic core of the town.
