The Teologiese Kweekskool is distinguished by its heavy, double-story facade featuring a central pediment and an entrance reached by marble steps. It occupies the site of the original Drostdy, which served as the center of local administrative and judicial governance from sixteen eighty-seven until eighteen twenty-seven. The property sits on land where Simon van der Stel camped in sixteen seventy-nine when he instructed that the settlement’s first government building be constructed.
