The V.O.C. Kruithuis, or Powder House, is a whitewashed, double-story building with thick walls and a barrel-vaulted roof, recognizable by the Dutch East India Company monogram and the year seventeen seventy-seven inscribed on its end wall. It stands near the lower end of the Braak, surrounded by a high perimeter wall with arched gateways.
