Alpargatería

An alpargatería is a workshop or shop dedicated to the craft of espadrilles, the traditional footwear of Ibiza. These shoes, known locally as espardenyes, were historically worn by peasants who required durable, comfortable footwear for long days of labor in the fields. The soles are constructed from braided hemp or jute, while the upper parts are fashioned from palm fronds whitened with lime.
