Bundesplatz

Bundesplatz is defined by a sixty-by-thirty-six-meter expanse of natural Vals gneiss slabs, stretching directly before the monumental Federal Palace. This stone surface serves as a deliberate void in front of the seat of the Swiss government, intended by its architects to avoid creating a competing monument. Embedded within the paving, twenty-six water jets burst upward to represent the cantons of the Swiss Confederation.
