Junkerngasse fifty-four is known locally as the Gespensterhaus, or Ghost House. Its narrow, late Gothic façade, which dates to the early seventeenth century, conceals a history far more practical than its reputation suggests. For centuries, this building served as a stable for the horses and carriages of the Béatrice-von-Wattenwyl-Haus, a grand mansion situated directly across the street.
