Rathausplatz

Rathausplatz is identified by the symmetrical sandstone facade of the Bern Town Hall, known locally as the Rathaus. This three-story structure is distinguished by its prominent open-air staircase and a loggia at the main entrance, which are flanked by shields representing the former districts of the canton. Constructed between fourteen oh six and fourteen seventeen, the building was commissioned following a fire that devastated much of the city the previous year.
