Münsterplattform Bern

The Münsterplattform is a vast, elevated stone terrace suspended more than thirty meters above the Aare River. While it is now a peaceful public promenade shaded by lime and chestnut trees, the site originated in thirteen thirty-four as a necessary expansion of the churchyard for the nearby Bern Minster. For centuries, this platform served as a cemetery, meaning the ground beneath these walkways holds the remains of thousands of medieval residents of the city.
