Botanical Garden of University of Bern

The Botanical Garden of the University of Bern is defined by its series of historic steel and glass greenhouses, which stand in a row before the main administrative building. Established between eighteen sixty and eighteen sixty-two, the site occupies two hectares along the bank of the Aare River. It was purposefully placed in the Rabbental area to take advantage of the wind protection provided by the massive embankment of the city's first railroad bridge, known as the Red Bridge.
