Steine House, located at fifty-five Old Steine, stands as a Grade II listed building defined by its historical connections to Maria Fitzherbert, the secret wife of the Prince Regent who later became King George the Fourth. Built in eighteen hundred and four by the architect William Porden, the house was designed specifically for Fitzherbert on a commission from the prince. During her residence, the home featured a long veranda overlooking the Old Steine, a stark contrast to the nearby Royal Pavilion where the prince resided.
