Brighton Railway Station - Southern Railway

other

Brighton Railway Station is recognizable by the large, double-spanned curved roof of glass and iron that stretches over its platforms. This high-arched trainshed, which rises to a height of seventy-five feet, was constructed in eighteen eighty-two and eighteen eighty-three to replace the original roof design. The station sits on an elevated site at the top of Queens Road, a position chosen by engineer John Rennie during the initial planning of the London and Brighton Railway.
