Resident Music sits on Kensington Gardens, marked by a sleek black storefront in the North Laine area. Derry Watkins and Natasha Youngs opened the shop in two thousand and four, a time when many independent music retailers were closing their doors. A passerby once shouted at Natasha while she was painting the shop interior, telling her that another record store was the last thing the city needed and guaranteeing they would be out of business in six months.
