Gonville & Caius College, University of Cambridge

Gonville and Caius College is marked by three Renaissance stone gates that symbolize the stages of a student's academic life. Founded in thirteen forty-eight by Edmund Gonville, it is the fourth oldest college in the University of Cambridge. While the college began as a modest institution, it was refounded in fifteen fifty-seven by a physician named John Caius, who famously Latinized his own surname from Keyes.
