King's College Chapel

King’s College Chapel is unmistakable for its soaring, rectangular silhouette and massive stone buttresses that dominate the Cambridge skyline. Founded by King Henry the Sixth in fourteen forty-one, this structure is a primary example of Perpendicular Gothic architecture. Its construction spanned over a century, beginning with the first stone laid by Henry on the feast of Saint James in fourteen forty-six. The work persisted through the turbulence of the Wars of the Roses and across the reigns of five different monarchs.
