News From Nowhere is a radical and community bookshop, easily recognized by its bold red frontage and hand-painted gold lettering. Founded on May Day in nineteen seventy-four by Bob Henderson, the shop was initially located on Manchester Street. Henderson, who had been a student activist in London, named the store after William Morris’s eighteen ninety utopian novel, intentionally choosing a title that suggested ideas coming from no single source.
