The Blue Angel, known to locals simply as The Raz, is marked by bright blue lettering on its exterior at one hundred six to one hundred eight Seel Street. It opened on March twenty-second, nineteen sixty-one, under the ownership of Allan Williams, who also managed The Beatles. He envisioned a sophisticated cabaret venue and decorated the staircase with an image of Marlene Dietrich from the film of the same name.
