The Crown Hotel

The Crown Hotel sits at the intersection of Lime Street and Skelhorne Street, identifiable by its marble-faced ground floor and the prominent gold-painted lettering spelling out its name between the upper windows. Built in nineteen oh five, this public house stands as an example of British Art Nouveau, a style rarely seen on such a scale in England. Architect Walter W. Thomas designed the building as a showpiece for Walkers Brewery, aiming to create a grand entrance for travelers arriving at the nearby Lime Street Station.
