Mendell Plaza

Mendell Plaza is an open-air public space tucked just off the bustling corridor of Third Street, positioned between Palou and Oakdale Avenues. It sits in the Bayview neighborhood, a district defined by its deep industrial history and its long-standing role as a center for San Francisco’s African American community. The plaza is anchored by the proximity of the Bayview Opera House, a landmark that once hosted dances and community programs during the mid-twentieth century when the area saw rapid population growth.
