The Sylvester House on Revere Avenue is distinguished by a pale blue façade and a wide, full-width front porch supported by six wooden Corinthian columns. Built between eighteen sixty-five and eighteen seventy, this three-story Italianate Victorian originally served as the farmhouse for a cattle ranch in an area then known as Butchertown. Its builder, Stephen L. Piper, also constructed the nearby Bayview Opera House.
