Corona Heights Park is identified by a prominent, rugged summit of exposed terra-cotta red chert. This rocky outcrop rises five hundred and twenty feet above sea level, providing a panoramic vantage point that stretches from the downtown skyline to Twin Peaks. Geologists recognize the site for its world-class slickenside, a massive, mirror-smooth surface created by the ancient friction of rocks grinding together along the Corona Heights Fault.
