Castagnola’s occupies a two-story building at the corner of Jefferson and Jones Streets, marked by its long history on the waterfront. Established in nineteen sixteen by Tomaso Castagnola, it began as a simple crab stand on the wharf. Castagnola is credited with creating the Dungeness crab cocktail for the nineteen fifteen Panama-California Exposition in San Francisco.
