Koret Children's Playground

The Koret Children's Quarter is distinguished by its long concrete slides built directly into the hillside, a feature that has persisted through over a century of changes. Established in eighteen eighty-eight as the Sharon Quarters for Children, the site is recognized as the first public playground in the United States. Its creation introduced the idea of a space dedicated solely to youth recreation and play within a public park, a concept that was groundbreaking at the time.
